Convenience is a big reason why many of us choose to go to a drive-thru instead of cook a well-balanced and healthy meal at home. We all need to eat but when you’re on the go constantly or you’re trying to take care of a newborn like I am and pumping milk which feels like is never ending, the last thing I feel like doing is cooking. Thankfully, there are services to help solve that problem like Territory Foods.
Territory Foods utilizes the skills of local chefs to prepare meals that are sustainably-sourced with real ingredients. According to their website, “real means things like antibiotic and hormone-free meats from animals raised without cages and with room to roam; fresh, local and organic whenever possible. We also never use ingredients containing gluten, dairy, or added nitrates.”
I started using Territory Foods back in 2018 when I wanted to try Whole 30 and I was working a full-time job as well as subbing a few classes at the gym. When ordering, you can select what type of food you would like, Whole 30, Paleo, Keto, or vegetarian for example among other options. You can also select whether you want breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner, how many meals you would like, as well as the portion size. I focused on making sure I had healthy lunches to bring to work. There was no prep work or having to buy other ingredients. All I had to do was pop the meal in the microwave or eat it cold if it was a salad for example. I considered it to be a success and after my 30 days were up, I decided to continue getting meals!
I noticed that they will have a few select meals that are available all the time and then they have some that they switch out week-to-week. Some of my favorites that I have come across are the Coconut Salmon Stew, Mango Curry Chicken Burger, and the Buffalo Chicken with Cumin Carrot Salad. I usually chose the boost size which is the smallest so that I could try to not consume a ton of calories. I would add in other lower calorie whole foods if I was still hungry. Of course, you could just go with a bigger portion size.
I chose the option to pick up my meals twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. But they also have a delivery option and right now, due to Covid-19, they are only doing delivery.
